We were first introduced to the Hempen family last summer when we were able to capture the precious time in their lives on their journey of foster care. Our whole team felt immediately drawn to their kindness and the genuine love in their ever expanding family. Fast forward to one year later, and we are so excited and honored to capture more amazing milestones in their family!
Tracy (amazing mother of the Hempen crew) contacted us at the end of summer to share the incredible news that her daughter, Jennifer, was getting MARRIED in November! Tracy’s excitement for Jennifer’s next chapter was just the BEST and we are thrilled that they asked us to be a part of capturing their story.
In Jennifer’s words, she “knew about” Kevin, but she reached out to a mutual friend to introduce them. Their whole relationship has thrived through the stretch of long distance while Jennifer lives in southeast Iowa with her family and Kevin is rocking the Chick-fil-A business in Chicago. Kevin asked Jennifer’s dad if he could make a visit to Iowa and spend time with Jennifer and meet their loving family – and lets just say it went really well! – and then every weekend since then, with the exception of three, they’ve made the drive back and forth to spend those invaluable days together.
Kevin and Jennifer are most likely found spending time together doing anything active outdoors. They’re both really competitive and it seems fitting that their first sight of each other was at a volleyball game. They also like to hike and mountain bike on the days they get to spend together.
Kevin proposed on one of Jennifer’s weekend trips to Chicago. Kevin lit a firework and proposed, then after getting the best answer ever, lit a whole bunch more, creating an epic amount of romance to kick off the most exciting chapter in their relationship.
As we’ve gotten to know this sweet couple, it’s been pretty apparent that their shared faith and life goals, surrounded by family, have clearly brought them together and is the very foundation to the love they share with one another. Any amount of time watching them interact will tug at your heart strings, and is witness to just how perfectly matched they are.
Their engagement session was one of the best evenings spent at Geode. Seriously … they’re just the cutest. Every single thing we asked them to do was just so genuine and we really got to capture their fun and spirited love! Kevin’s orange Corvette brought in some major cool points too, and it may have been a highlight of ours when Jennifer took the wheel for a few laps through the park.
Their family oriented wedding will for sure be a highlight of our November. Jennifer’s vision for a chill day where their family gets to all be together in celebration is going to be so wonderful to be a part of. We can’t wait to be a part of the beginning of their marriage, and we’re just so happy these two found each other! They are a true testament to the amazing God we serve and His faithfulness to work out all the details and relationships in our lives in His perfect timing.
